You can go to your tag office and get an official State ID card - it kind of looks like a drivers license but it's just an ID card. I think they are like $15. Or if you have an expired license that still works for an ID. It would be easier to buy the ticket ahead of time. Also make sure you don't have any metal things on your person - no jewelry, try to find pants and shirts with no buttons or zippers. And wear shoes that can be taken off easily because they make you take them off.

You will need official verification of your address at the time you purchase the ticket, on line, by telephone or at the ticket window. You will also need the flight confirmation number, the flight number and gate of departure when you arrive at the airport . You might be asked for a picture identification at the gate upon departure, depending on the security alert level. You should have all those things before the day of departure to avoid confusion and chaos.

DO NOT buy your ticket at the airport on the day of your flight...it's very likely you will pay a lot assuming you can even get on a flight. Go to Kayak.com or Expedia and buy your ticket in advance. And yes, you absolutely, positively will need a state issued ID or a passport to get through security. Do not pack any liquids or gels in your carry-on because they will get thrown away and you'll get help up at security. Get to the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight in case security lines are long. Once you're through security, just find your gate and wait until your flight boards. Once you buy your ticket online you can often print your boarding pass at home 24 hours before the flight. Or you can use the self-service kiosk at the ticket counter to get your boarding pass (you'll need to check your bag at the counter anyway). You will not be able to go through security without a boarding pass. Don't worry, someone will be on hand to help you if you get flustered.
