call.
2 :
It's hard to say if your flight will be cancelled this far in advance, though you'll just have to keep an eye out and call them a little closer to the departure date.
3 :
No it should not be affected inspections will only last to latest monday
4 :
Flights from DFW to SJC are usually MD-80s. So the answer to that question, is yes, it is an MD-80. There will definitely not be any terminal nor gate assignmet this far in advance so don't be alarmed by that, that does not mean your flight is cancelled. If you've given them your contact info when you booked then that's how they will notify ou of any flight abnormalities. If calling would make you feel a little bit more complacent, then do call them about 2 days before and if you so desire, again just before you're actual flight time. Remember though, that in certain situations, flights can get cancelled a few mins before or after the departure time.

You are probably going to have to change planes in Dallas.
2 :
Typically, the same flight number being used for a flight with multiple stops means that the same plane will be used for both legs of the journey. Due to aircraft substitutions, delays, or other issues in Dallas, though, there may be a need for them to switch you to different aircraft (even though the flight numbers are the same). There really isn't going to be a way to tell whether you will be on the same plane or not until the day of the flight, because there's no way to tell whether they will need to switch planes for whatever reason until that day.
3 :
Just by looking at your itinerary, I would say you should not have to switch planes; the flight originates in CLT and makes a stop at DFW before continuing onto to LAX. But just as the previous person said, sometimes airlines make substitutions.

I am flying from Huntsville to Honolulu with a plane switch in Dallas Tx. Will i have enough time

I am flying from Huntsville to Honolulu with a plane switch in Dallas Tx. Will i have enough time?
So there is a plane switch in Dallas/Fort Worth, I have an hour in between these 2 flights. Will I have enough time to make it to my next flight? I have never flown before so i'm a little worried I might miss my flight or something. Also will I have to go back through security? If so wont' that take more then an hour? Thanks.

You'll be fine! Flying is so much fun. I'm flying to Pennsylvania tomorrow from Hobby airport in Houston. I have a connecting flight in Dallas too. An hour is plenty of time to make it to your flight. You will not have to go through security again. Just as soon as your first plane lands, make sure you have your papers ready, and get to your next gate as quicky as possible. In some airports you may need to take the little train thing in the airport to get you to your next gate. That's always fun though, and it's very easy to find your gate. You'll be fine! No worries! =D
2 :
Is it the same airline - or are you coming in on a regional? Speak to someone at the gate you exit and ASK an airline person in uniform - they KNOW DFW and how to get around - there is a shuttle train, but I never rode it. Since you will be early at Huntsville - bug the staff there - where is my new gate in relation to my destination gate? An hour should be plenty of time - don't loligag in the magazine shop! (if it's the same airline and you are in their terminal - you may not have to go out thru security!) have a great trip!
3 :
You will have enough time if your flight from Huntsville arrives DFW at the same terminal your flight to Honolulu will be departing from. If not, you'll have to take an electric train (no cost to you) to go from one terminal to another and that'll take more time. It will be more helpful if you could list your airline and flight number for each leg of your trip so I can tell you exactly which terminal you'll be arriving at and which one you'd be leaving from for Hawaii.

today I found a website called flightaware.com. there, you can track a real flight in real time. So I decided.?
... to check out flight AA1680 from salt lake city to dallas fort worth... I checked the route, which was also written there, and it was this: NSIGN1 MTU J240 HBU TBE BGD UKW9 So this meant that I have to take the SID NSIGN1 to MTU, then follow airways J240 to HBU, then TBE and BGD. But when I looked at my Jeppesen airway chart, I saw that from HBU to TBE, there is no direct airway. So when you are at HBU, you go directly to TBE. Is this "common" to not always follow airways in the charts, but just make a "direct to" (even without ATC clearance, jut because it is written in the flight plan)? by the way, HBU TBE BGD are all VORs, and UKW9 is the DFW Star...
Aircraft - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Looks like the canned flight plan is WEVIC1 HVE DVC PNH UKW9 but that the clearance received is the HBU TBE routing. This MD80 has the capability to fly direct to with its /Q suffix designating it having RNP with RVSM capability
2 :
Are you looking on a low enroute chart? It could be a jet route and not a victor airway. You can go directly between VOR's provided you are at an altitude that will provide adequate signal along the route and complys with minimum IFR altitudes.
3 :
There are all sorts of ways to navigate. Airways are handy when they lead where you wish to go, but you can navigate randomly as long as you're well above terrain and obstacles (which you would be at FL330, for example). Yes, you go direct when you're not on an airway. When IFR, you always proceed with ATC clearance for the route, except in emergencies or in the event of radio failure. Your route need not be restricted to airways, however.

What can you do when you are given a 24hour ultimatum at Heathrow to produce a transcript receipt from Nigeria

What can you do when you are given a 24hour ultimatum at Heathrow to produce a transcript receipt from Nigeria
My American citizen girlfriend is stranded at Heathrow Airport in London. she was on her way home to Alabama. Her flight originated from Lagos, Nigeria and stopped over at Heathrow. She was not allowed to board her flight for Dallas/Fort Worth because she did not have a Nigerian transcript receipt for this particular flight. She had all her travel arrangement processed by British Airways in Ibadan, Nigeria. For reasons unknown she was not given or adviced about the said transcript that she needed to carry on her flight. The immigration officials at Heathrow adviced her to get the transcript receipt from Nigeria at a cost of 450GBP and to produce it within 24 hours of her arrival otherwise will be sent back to Nigeria. I sent the money to her friend in Ibadan who went to pay the said amount and get the transcript from British Airways. Her friend sent the documents via Fedex Express for a 6 hour courier service to Heathrow. If my GF does not receive it on time, can she be okd to wait?

Something doesn't make sense here. First, I've never heard of a "Transcript receipt." Second, a US citizen holding a valid US passport has 180 days to play tourist in the UK; transiting is not a problem--having done both many times myself. Third, the airline will bear responsibility to transport her back to Lagos, since it was their mistake allowing her on the flight without supposed proper paperwork in the first place; so it's within the airline's best interest, financially, to ge their Heathrow office to work with the BA Lagos office and produce this paperworks--if they exist. My guy, I tell you it no add up. If you having more troubles than I can send you reliable contact informations to my uncle Barrister Prince Joe Eboh who will assist in these thing and can take emergency payment via western unions for only $250 Great british pound. My guy, I prey you henceforth to take immidiate actions in this matter and pm me to get my good uncles infomations. God bless you. I hope all of this answer help you to understand what is going on here and how to deal with it to get proper results.
2 :
BA should be able to produce all you need in London for no cost. Someones conned you out of 450 pounds I reckon. How well do you know this girl?
3 :
This is full of.....it. What transcript????? BA is all over the world, and all they can do is pull her PNR from the computer. Period. All transcripts HAVE TO be in English anyway. This story does not make sense. Especially if she booked with BA. If she in transit in London and not going out of the airport, she is allowed to return home. No matter which airline.

Our luggage got on a plane at O'Hare to Dallas, Fort Worth. Dallas had a snow storm and we ended up on stand by. We were at the airport until the last flight. We cancelled our flight. How do we get our luggage back to O'Hare airport for us to pick up. The airline is American Airlines

(because airlines are suppose not put luggage on the plane unless the passengers has board that aircraft0
2 :
Hold on there. So your saying your original flight was cancelled and you were put on standby. You were suppose to be on the last flight out of ORD and then you cancelled the flight completely? Sorry, something just doesn't add up here. If you were so set to go to Dallas, why didn't you get on a flight there and why you would cancel your entire plans?

So YOU cancelled your flight?? You'll have to contact AA but AJ is right - something doesn't sound right here.......

Chances of Flight being canceled

Chances of Flight being canceled?
I'm taking a flight to Phoenix out of Atlanta Monday morning (BCS national championship game), but there are reports of a "wintry mix" and 70% precipitation. I've never flown before, and it's critical that I get to Phoenix in time for the game. I should also note that I have a stop in Fort Worth, TX. Can anyone tell me the likelihood of my flight being canceled or delayed? I'm kind of nervous.
Air Travel - 2 Answers

1 :
I think it is still too early to tell. There may be a delay or cancellation depending on how well the airport clears the runways but supposedly Texas will be spared so the most important leg of the flight is getting out of Atlanta. Hopefully the weather will not be as bad as predicted.
2 :
Since it's critical, here is what you do: Change your ticket to fly 1 day earlier (cost about $100-$200 most airlines) Stay overnight at a hotel in Phoenix 1 estra night (cost approx $100) Make it to Phoenix in time for the critical game. Good luck

Hi CG! Not really thinking Amtrak/VIA Rail is a great option, it'd be a marathon! DFW to Chicago almost 24 hours, Chicago to Buffalo another ten, then three more just to get to Toronto. Check out price comparison sites like Priceline.com Travelocity.com Orbitz.com Farecompare.com If possible, be flexible with your date and time of travel -- often one day of the week is cheaper than another, and midmorning flights may be more expensive than evening flights. Non-stops are usually more expensive than one- and two-stops, but if she's flying into ILM or MYR, you'll probably have to have stops. Purchasing 30 days in advance is cheaper than purchasing 14 days in advance, which is cheaper than 7 days in advance, which may be cheaper than same-week. Staying over a Saturday night is sometimes cheaper than not staying over a Saturday night. Staying more than seven days is sometimes more expensive than staying only one week; staying 30 days is more than that; staying 60 days is more again. So far, in the limited checking I've just done, I found $227 to ILM, staying one week in June, by using Travelocity.com. Be sure to select "Flexible Dates" and enter one minor, age 14 -- because not all airlines will allow a youth to travel unaccompanied by an adult. Flying to MYR was significantly more.

Have you ever seen anyone get airsick on a plane?
I'm flying by myself a week from today for the first time, I'm 16 years old, and I'm not concerned about ANYTHING at all except that someone next to me or near me will get airsick. Is airsickness common? I've never seen anyone experience it when I've flown with my family before, but I'm still concerned that someone will. I'm flying from JFK to Dallas/Fort Worth, how long is that flight? Thanks! Your guys's answers have really helped ease my anxiety a lot.

Hi, If you've flown with your parents, you should be fine. Just bring a book, your iPod, Walkman, etc, focus on the music and the book, bring a sketch pad, draw, write to home on the plane. If you see someone being "airsick" take sips of your drink, and if you feel queasy, go to the bathroom and let it out. Also, eat before being on the plane, it's horrible to throw up on an empty stomach. I don't really think it's common... But I hope I helped, good luck on the flight!! :) Love, Massie xx <3 PS, drink ginger ale!!
3 :
I have over a million miles in my frequent flyer account and have only seen people get airsick on a flight once and that was a special circumstance. It was on a very small plane that couldn't climb over the storm. We hit very heavy turbulence whice they were serving lunch and over half the people on the plane got sick. I almost did myself; not so much from the turbulence as seeing everyone else getting sick. However, this is extremely rare you shouldn't have any problem at all - most flights are very smooth.

what is the cheapesst major city to fly to from dallas fort worth

what is the cheapesst major city to fly to from dallas fort worth?
I want to get away for a mini vacation sometime soon. I will be flying out of DFW and really don't care so much where I go, but more how much it costs to go somewhere-flight and hotel. I also need advice on the cost of hotels in major cities. I am traveling alone and over 50. I prefer to go somewhere near an ocean, but would like to have suggestions about other interesting places. I've been looking at San Francisco...but it seems expensive. If I can't afford anything that interesting, I'll go Anywhere. So, where can I fly to and stay that is the most interesting and Cheapest!? forgot to mention places that I've already been - Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio, Myrtle Beach, Smokey Mountains (and all around Tenn) (the oil spill in the gulf is a concern)

If my next flight is in the same terminal, do I have to go get my....?
Next ticket, wait in line again, go get my bags, stand in security again, wait in line, have them check my bags again? If it's in the same terminal, how about a different terminal? How about if the other terminal is accessible with out going through security again? If it helps, I will be flying into Dallas Fort Worth (DFW). And my next plane takes off 45 minutes later. It is American airlines Or can I mosey on over, and go from there?

Your luggage will be checked through all the way to your destination. You do not have to collect it and re-check it. You should also be given a boarding pass for your second flight when you check in for the first. So at Dallas all you have to do is find out from what gate your second flight leaves and get yourself there.
2 :
If you have 45 minutes DO NOT leave the secure area as you wil lhave to be rescreened, find your new gate, and stay close enough to hear the boarding announcements. It is a big airport, no moseying, if you want to shop, do it near your new gate
3 :
yep, check your bags through. If connecting flight is out of a different terminal (quite possible, as AA is in 4 out of the 5), you can take the little skytrain without exiting security.

What to do during a long layover at Dallas Fort Worth with luggage

What to do during a long layover at Dallas Fort Worth with luggage?
I have an 8 hour layover in Dallas Fort Worth Airport next month. Because I will be flying in from an international location, and flying to another international location, I predict I'll have about 5 hours free. I've looked into renting a car, but for some reason on the day I'll be there, even the rates to rent an economy car, are at the very least $70 and on average $120. I've checked multiple sites already! This is regardless of whether I have it for one day or overnight. Also, because the airline I'm flying (British Airways) only has one flight from Dallas per day, I'll probably be lucky if the check in counter is open when I arrive in Dallas. Chances are I'll probably have to tote my suitcase around, unless I can find someplace to store it for a few hours. What would you recommend somebody toting their luggage with an 8 hour layover, and car rental prices being very high, do? Thanks all!

There should be some sort of shuttle bus you can take to the Grapevine Mills Mall (about 5 min away) that will be a lot cheaper than a rental car. You won't have too much of a problem killing 5 hours out there and it's a neat area. Otherwise, there are plenty of restaurants/bars to kill time eating and drinking (which is what I do...)
2 :
If you can store or check your luggage at the airport, catch the free shuttle over to the Sheraton or the Westin (both are Starwood Hotels). You can have a nice relaxing meal in the restaurant or a drink in the bar. Talk to people...then catch the shuttle back. An inexpensive venture away from the airport.
3 :
Ride the Trinity Railway Express to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth. (One way $1.50 - Day Pass $3.00) ***No Service on Sundays or holidays. http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/tre-ridebuy.html http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/newweekeb.html Enterprise Rental Cars are cheaper on mid-week days. ($37.58 USD per weekday)(You're probably going to be here on a weekend so the price will be higher) http://www.enterprise.com/car_rental/home.do;jsessionid=Kc8YlvGvmrrm7d6w7ncLQJR7NSvYf2JG4QYCTjFr1l0JWfhw5Tww!-1827822051 http://www.dfwairport.com/transport/public.php http://www.fun-things-texas.com/things-to-do-in-fort-worth-texas.html http://www.fun-things-texas.com/things-to-do-in-dallas-texas.html After 9/11 all luggage lockers at airports were shut down. ******Most of the time, unless you're flying out on a different airline than you flew in on, your luggage is transferred to the next airplane rather than having to pick it up. I suppose your question is based on the fact that you're using two different airlines? The only information I have been able to get on luggage storage is for hotel customers. Some Trinity Rail Express and DART Rail stations have bicycle lockers. I pasted the pertinent information from the website below. ********************* At most rail stations and transit centers, DART offers bike racks for short-term parking and bike lockers for long-term parking. Bike lockers offer greater security but require a $15 nonrefundable deposit, as well as a rental fee: • 3 months $15 • 6 months $25 • 1 year $45 ********************* http://www.dart.org/riding/bike.asp#rail This links shows which stations have bike lockers and how many. http://www.dart.org/maps/locationslist.asp ********************* In case you get stuck at the airport, the links below have some tips and ideas. http://www.expedia.com/daily/airports/dallas.asp http://elayover.com/index.html If you go to the Grapevine Mills Mall, they may have lockers where you can store your luggage. DFW airport has alot of nice restaurants and internet access with or without a computer..there is also a hotel in the airport and you don't have to rent a car to go there and enjoy there restaurant and bar..also if you do rent a car.. there are nice eating place on 114 which is on the outside of the north entrance of the airport. you can also go to grapevine mills mall which is very famous . if you rent a car you can leave your luggage in the car.. if you don't and you choose to stay in the airport you just chill in strabucks or eat at a restaurant.. there is no where to store your luggage. the prices of the car are high because you aren't a resident of the area and if you are not a U.S. citizen that also is a factor
5 :
Buy a one day pass to a lounge, you can leave your luggage there, eat, rest, watch t.v., relax. You really don't have enough time to explore outside the airport.

Ok, if i'm understanding this correctly, this is a multi-airline trip under ONE ticket, and not just separate routes. First, the airline will rarely lose your luggage when switching airlines because in all actually, the other airline is just another gate. And the link is expired
2 :
You'll most likely be fine, but the more times your luggage is transferred, the more likely it is to be lost or delayed. The chances are very small that your luggage will be lost, but more likely than if you had just one non-stop flight.
3 :
There is plenty of time to allow the bags to transfer so I would not worry.

Can anybody tell me how to get to "Days Inn South Fort Worth" from Fort Worth International Airport

Can anybody tell me how to get to "Days Inn South Fort Worth" from Fort Worth International Airport?
Hello, I'm traveling from Mexico to Fort Worth in a couple of days and I will stay at the Days Inn South Fort Worth, my hotel is on 4213 I-35 W South Freeway I-35 W/Seminary Dr Exit 46B, the thing is I will not rent a car so can anyone tell me please how to get there using only public transportation? I will really appreciate if you can help me. I also have another question, my flight back home leaves really early so I'm guessing public transportation is not an option, so does anyone know about how much will the cab fee be if I travel from my hotel to the airport?

Your best bet is to take a cab to the motel. You COULD take a bus to a train station, get on the train to downtown Ft Worth and then take a bus to Seminary and I-35W. try www.the-t.com for more info. Once you are at your motel, and you want to get around town from there, the bus should get you where you want to go. I'm not sure what a cab costs from the airport, but I'm sure its pretty high because it is about 30 miles away. Hope this helps.
2 :
There is no bus or train that will take you from the airport to that location. You could take the Super Shuttle, which is cheaper than a taxi. People share the ride along a route to the same geographic area. It's a blue van with the name Super Shuttle in big yellow letters. To find out more go to www.supershuttle.com

Can you take a pet in the cabin of an American Airline Plane

Can you take a pet in the cabin of an American Airline Plane?
I am buying a puppy and flying home on American Airline Flight 49 from Dallas Fort Worth Intl to San Francisco Intl. March 18th 4:10 pm. Can I take him home in a Sherpa Bag under my seat? What Papers do I need and who do I talk to at the airline? Do you have a phone number or email of someone at American Airlines, who can help me?

no, I don't believe you can. They usually put animals in the belly of the plain.
2 :
Actually, most airlines allow you to take a small dog in the cabin if they fit inside one of those small pet carrier bags. They typically only allow 2 on any particular flight, so you do have to make sure you notify them ahead of time to ensure there aren't already more than 2 flying. Also, every airline does require specific shots and a vet visit before the flight. Contact American Airlines for their specific requirements. 1-800-433-7300

Dallas Fort Worth Airport 3 hour wait

Dallas Fort Worth Airport 3 hour wait.....?
Hi everybody... I have a connecting flight on my way back to Miami from Arkansas at Dallas Fort Worth Airport (Texas). The wait time is about 3 hours between flights. Do you think that's enough time to leave the airport to visit the surrounding area and be back in time for my flight back to Miami? I'm flying with American Airlines. Do the security check-ins take long at DFW? What is around the area? Shops, restaurants, any recommendations? This is my 1st time in Dallas and I wanted to take advantage of it, (even if it's for an hour or 2)! Thanx! :o) Oh...and what would be he best way to get around that area in such a short amount of time? Bus, Train, Cab?

1 :
Dear Amy....As ur next flight requires atleast 1 or 1.30 minutes check in time so leaving the DFW airport to see the city would literally mean Touch n Go for you, in this case. That will leave u exhausted, poorer & will not fulfill your desire to see the place nicely. I suggest you dont leave the airport, catch hold a good book & read it there only. Otherwise see the shopping center & other areas within the Airport.
2 :
You definitely have time to leave the airport, but you will be pretty limited on what you can see, since everything is spread out pretty well. It will take you a Half Hour to get to either Dallas or Fort Worth assuming traffic is moving. If you do venture out, a cab is your best bet. The bus will take too long and not give you many options. The train is on a limited schedule and there is only one line accessible from the airport. Grapevine Mills Mall is very close to the Airport if you want to do some shopping, or a bit north of the Airport in Grapevine, there are a ton of nice restaurants to choose from, from high end to fast food. And from my experience, The security lines are usually fairly fast, but you never know from day to day.
3 :
You won't have much more than an hour so you'll need to stay close by. I wouldn't recommend that you go to Grapevine Mills. It's a huge mall and you'd have to just quickly rush through it. I'd suggest you take a cab to the Mandalay Canal in Las Colinas. There are restaurants and quaint shops along the canal and you could also see the world's largest equestrian sculpture of bronze mustangs splashing in the water. This is very close to the airport. Enjoy your visit.
4 :
DONT LEAVE THE AIRPORT, by the time you spend getting out and somewhere, you have to turn around and come back. I would suggest haveing Lunch/Dinner during that time inside the airport so you don't have to get rescreened. Check out the listings at the link below for places to go.
5 :
Only if you want to miss your plane. Add to that, the surrounding areas are the burbs, you have seen it all before. Take the Skylink (in the airport, behind security) to Terminal D and find a decent restaurant and enjoy a leisurely meal. Much better off than running to Grapevine and hoping to get back in time.

it's not the airport, it's the airlines that have on time problems.

can someone explain the whole process an unaccompanied minor goes through while at an airport

can someone explain the whole process an unaccompanied minor goes through while at an airport?
What does an unaccompanied minor do or have to do from the time they get to the airport to the time they leave the airport at their destination. by the way this is with the unaccompanied minor service that the airport has plus my flight also has a connecting flight in dallas/fort worth. i am flying on american airlines

IT just means the parent takes the child through security, and stays with them in the secure area until the flight. THe child stays with an attendant the entire time. They are not left alone AT ALL until whomever, at the destination airort, picks them up. They are with an airline employee until this person arrives, and ID is checked. It's really safe!
2 :
Airline UM programs are not all exactly the same, but in general: Using the Unaccompanied Minor program has to be arranged in advance. Don't just show up at the airport. An adult with ID has to take the UM to the airport and deliver them to the check-in desk. The UM will usually get an ID or tag that identifies them as an "Unaccompanied Minor" at that time. Most airlines want the adult to take the child to security after check-in, but an airline employee will escort the UM to their flight after that, stay with them, and ensure the flight crew knows they are an Unaccompanied Minor. An airline employee will also walk the UM to their connecting flight (in Dallas in your case) and stay with them until the flight boards. An airline employee will escort the UM from the aircraft to the arrivals area at the destination airport. An adult with ID has to meet them there. Hope you have a great flight.

Flight to Seattle?
I'm flying to Seattle soon and I need to know some basic stuff. First, if I want to get to Seattle in the early morning, what time would my flight from Dallas/Fort Worth airport have to be? I know everything with the time zones. I believe Seattle is 3 hours diffirent.

The earliest flights depart Dallas at around 9:00am and arrive in Seattle around 9:15-9:30. Seattle is two hours behind Dallas, not three. By the way, flight information is available on dozens on websites. Just go to any of the major travel websites such as Expedia, Otbitz, or Travelocity. If you only want schedules and don't need to check availability or fares, Airwise is easy to use. You don't need to post a question here and wait for someone to answer it. You can get the answer yourself in less than a minute.

Look on yahoo maps or just about any other mapping site--they'll all give you distances. Just for fun, if you want to see what it looks like, you can use google earth. The satellite photos are several years old, but it's still pretty cool.
4 :
It's not the distance that will be the problem. It's the time of day that you need to go that way from the airport. On an off time....(no major traffic or accidents) that would take you about 45 mins. to an hour.

it is approximately 13.9 miles. ( about 19 minutes )

Why dont you just stay at the Embassy Suites or the Holiday Inn in Frisco? You can catch a cab coming out of DFW airport easy, just head north/east through past grapevine mills mall on the 121 and then hit 423 / Main street going north. BTW my husband commutes from DFW to CA and it can take 45 minutes to get from Frisco there or an hour & half depending on construction and day of week. They are working on the tollway roads right now and that does not show up on mapquest or yahoo maps.

It's not too bad. Just put two sets of seats togther and lie across them or below them (depending on your preference). You can also ask an agent if they have a cot available as well. Yes, depending on the night, there could well be many people there as well. As for Wi-fi, there are some laptop stations with Wi-fi as well as some additional areas you can pick up a signal depending if you have a subscriber service. The Admiral's clubs also have internet access if you are a member or perhaps have an American Express Platinum card. As for bars, most close closer to 10 or 11, I think, but if you want a bar, just go to the DFW Hyatt or Grand Hyatt. Both are right there either attached to the terminal (Grand Hyatt in terminal D) or a short walk across a parking lot (DFW Hyatt from terminal c) Cheers!

How long does it take to drive from San Diego to Dallas, Fort Worth

How long does it take to drive from San Diego to Dallas, Fort Worth?
My in-laws are expecting me and my family this christmas. I just looked at flights and its going to cost me $1,600!!! I was wondering how long it would take to drive. I have a two and a half year old who may get fidgety but if I make a few stops to stretch our legs I think that we could do it.

It depends if your a fast driver or not.
2 :
From my experience, it takes about 3 - 4 days driving from SD to Dallas, with a few pitstops here and there. Just dont drive too fast or too slow. Keep it at a steady speed. You will get there.
3 :
never done it but I believe it's about a 15hr drive..look it up on google maps get directions it's pretty accurate
4 :
Yes! Tickets are expensive I too agree. It usually takes about 2 to 3 days, just take your time, stop in well lit areas with lots of people. Book a motel/hotel too if possible to rest up. Gas prices have dropped here in Texas :) Be safe and Good luck!
5 :
Google Maps shows it to be about 1340 miles / 19 hours windshield time. Roughly three 450 mile days. Truck Stop Info Plus shows a nice 24-hour travel stop at I-8 exit 61, Crestwood Rd. (I like to start my trips by simply getting in the car and driving about an hour to a breakfast stop.) Thereafter depends on the fuel range of your vehicle. I like truck stops because they are generally secure -- too many witnesses. Not to mention generally good food, low fuel prices, and 24-hour service. (I have, in the past, slept in the car in a gas station waiting for them to open.) Assuming round trip, assuming $3 gas, assuming 35 mpg highway, assuming four nights at $70 motels -- about $500 plus food. 450 mile days is about 7 hours windshield time. Figure a 10 minute break every hour, add two 60 minute food stops, about 10 hours per day on the road -- 8 am to 6 pm.
6 :
I like Dimo's answer, but I would drive later at night, the reasoning behind this is less daytime traffic, and trying to get away from the commuting hours. Pack the child things he can eat along the way, and stay hydrated, but not too hydrated, you don't want to stop too often. You will definitely be able to do it. I tend to drive about 550-600 miles a day, but driving for 12 hours for me is not out of the question, you may not be able to do this with a child. Watch the speedlimits, there is nothing worse than an out of state ticket.

This was a very interesting question to research. I found the advertisments on Duke Univ. website via airlines.about.com. From viewing the domestic air prices, $100 might have been too much for a flight from NYC to Texas, but may have been right if the passenger had the additional travel from Boston. Please notice the times it took to travel from NY to San Francisco and Los Angeles: almost 12 hours to San Fran and more than 10 to LA! http://scriptorium.lib.duke.edu/adaccess/T/T23/T2363-72dpi.jpeg With the second ad, you'll see some airfares to European cities along with a domestic coast-to-coast fare of $99. Right next to the fare, you'll see the amount the passenger could pay for a down payment on the price of the ticket. Those prices weren't such a bargain when you realize that in 1954, the year this ad was produced, the average person earned less than $3,000 per year. In the '50's, air travel was for the wealthy. That was too large a chunk of a middle-class income. http://scriptorium.lib.duke.edu/adaccess/T/T21/T2110-72dpi.jpeg

go to aa.com (american airlines website) and look under the picture for their sales...edit the city for dallas. the reason why i say go to american airlines is because their largest hub is at the dallas airport. now, this doesn't mean that they will necessarily be the cheapest, but they will have a direct flight most likely. do this first, and then decide where all you really want to go and do an orbitz search at orbitz.com. this will reveal the cheapest airlines for this route. then directly go to that airline's website to receive a lower fare, because orbitz has to charge like 6 or 7 extra dollars for booking fee (so they make a profit). have a fun and safe trip. If your family is "younger" consider doing a Disney vacation. I've been on two with my family, and am currently older than the normal disney "age" but i would go back in a heartbeat because it is truly a place of magic and fun! and you will get good deals on a trip such as this. Enjoy!

Here is a link to the DFW airport guide: http://www.dfwairport.com/guide/index.php You can download a map of the terminals from that page, which may be helpful to you. If you are flying any airline other than American, the odds are almost 100% that the gate for your connecting flight will be in the same terminal in which you landed. American Airlines has a lot more flights going through DFW, so you might have to go from one terminal to another. This should not be too difficult. There are plenty of maps of the terminals posted within the airport. If you are on a flight during "normal" hours, there are volunteers who can help you find your way. They wear straw hats, nametags, and i think green or black vests, and they are usually older folks. They can help you if you're uncertain of where to go, as can airline employees at the gates. Good luck and have a safe trip :)
3 :
That's a perfect length of time, especially if your flight comes in late. Just enough time if you need to change terminals or find your gate in the same terminal and grab a snack if you want to. But not too much time to get restless. The volunteers are easy to spot if you need any help, so don't worry about that. Enjoy your trip.
4 :
On a normal day and for a seasoned traveler it is very good. However, we had a tough time flying AA. They change terminals for departure very late. Note that these are not gates, but terminals as well. We ended up changing 4 times once. If not, AA then may be better. In general, that is plenty of time, if the flight is on time. If not you could scramble a little. Let the air hostess know that you are traveling by yourself for first time and you need good directions to get to the next terminal and you should be fine.
5 :
Yes, just get directions from the internet or a GPS and you'll be fine.
6 :
All of the eating places are inside security and there is a free people mover that runs between the terminals over the top to take you between terminals and to give you a great view of the airport if you have extra time. The D shaped terminals have good seating out of the flow of traffic with WiFi hot spots and outlets for power if you wish to go that way.

I live in Fort Worth, Texas and I want to become a flight attendent, how do I do so

I live in Fort Worth, Texas and I want to become a flight attendent, how do I do so?
I think this would be a great profession for me, I want to see the world, I love to fly and my fiance is in the military which keeps him overseas all the time so it wouldn't interfere with my relationship. However, I can't find ANY information on how to apply to this field locally and I know there has to be someway to in DFW. I don't have a credit card so I can't really use any of the online information. PLEASE HELP...

I would go to the American Airlines website (www.aa.com). Their main hub is the Dallas/Fort Worth airport and they have arrangements with other airlines so can get to Fort Worth from just about anywhere in the world.
2 :
Your question is an interesting one since it involves one-way international travel which can be both expensive and problematic. Usually international fares are lower with the purchase of a round-trip ticket which is to discourage the purchase of one-way travel due to immigration restrictions. Usually when one travels to a foreign country by air on a tourist visa one usually needs to provide proof of confirmed return or onward travel or proof of funds sufficient to purchase a ticket before the expiration of the visa. Now, to try to answer your question about price. Airline fares change almost daily now and with the vast fluxuation of the price of oil they can and do tack on fuel and other surcharges. I checked a one-way fare from Tel Aviv to Dallas-Ft Worth and the lowest I found, as of the writing of this response, is $1,256 USD. A round-trip ticket is pricing @ $1,719 USD so as you can see it is not simply 2X the one-way fare. You may want to buy a round-trip ticket and then change the return date if you need to since the change fee on an international ticket is typically $200-$300 USD which is far less than the nearly $800 difference in fare.
3 :
Different sites have different deals. See http://www.travelbargainsites.com for a list of cheap travel sites. One site compares all the sites for the best fare.

There are none in the terminals...........You have to step outside.
2 :
They do have smoking areas set aside in the airport. I hope you and you reeking breath and smoke-polluted clothes don't sit near me. Ciggy-stink is a tough thing to be stuck with from a fellow passenger.
3 :
You will not like this but I smoked for forty years and couldn't stop. Welcome to my world in 2001 had two heart attacks quad by-pass surgery now have congestive heart failure and lost a good part of my breathing. Between smoking and other garbage I was 90% closed up. I thought that it would never happen to me. Tour going to love the feel of a ventilator shoved down your throat so you can breath. Happens every time.
4 :
There are no longer smoking areas in the airport. If you want to smoke you have to go outside, and then go back through security to get to the gates to catch your next flight. Yes, it's inconvenient, but that's the point.
5 :
They have a new smoking ordinance in DFW airport. you will have to go outside the terminal, get your breathing treatment then go through security again. depends how bad you want the smoke and how much time you have between flights.

flight school in Fort Worth TEXAS

flight school in Fort Worth TEXAS?
okay I am 14, fifteen in october...I was wandering if there is a flight school for teenagers that I could go to like after school or in the summer. Any ideas? Please Help!!!

The one I was looking at (although I'm not a teenager) in Arlington was http://www.skymates.com/courses.php which says you can start at any age, but just can't solo until you're 16 and get a certificate until you're 17. http://www.pro-aircraft.com/courses.asp , which has their basic courses at Hicks Field (Saginaw area, north of Fort Worth) and advanced at Meacham, lists the same age requirements, so I assume that's state law. I don't think it's FAA regulations because it seems like I've heard of younger people getting licenses, but I could be wrong. Or, just Google Fort Worth flight schools: http://www.google.com/search?q=fort+worth+flight+school&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enUS255US264

Yes, specifically over the Gulf of Mexico. I don't recall just how long we were actually over water, partly because we were pretty much along the shore for well over an hour, whether over water near land or over land near water.
2 :
Yeah, you probably will fly over the Gulf of Mexico. I am guessing that you will spend probably 1 to 2 hrs over the plane because it normally takes 2 hr and 45 mins for the flight and there is still a piece of Texas and Louisana that you will fly over.
3 :
I took this flight once before. Yes it does go over the ocean. And it is not a big deal. I did this my first time ever flying. It's a relatively short flight.
4 :
Yes. You'll be over water (Gulf of Mexico) for at least an hour if not 90 minutes depending on the fligh plan. Done the flight many many times.
5 :
About 60 minutes overwater - If at night - you probably will not even see it - Will be from New Orleans to Ft.Myers for the overwater portion - Do not worry - pilots and flight attendants can swim - You do not need flotation equipment - Airlines generally provide some - Never actually been on the flight - always absent minded - Never did DFW to MIA - but I did LAX to MIA about 10 or 20 times -

Well, it takes 2 hours and 55 minutes on American's 5 daily nonstop flights between DFW and ONT (Ca.), so I'd say it's about the same for any nonstop commercial jet flights--including nonstop cargo flights.
